Five Reasons Why Your Air Conditioner Isn't Cooling Your House

July 10, 2020

When it’s a searing summer morning in Boynton Beach, nothing could be worse than figuring out your HVAC isn’t working the way it is meant to. The last thing you want to do is call for cooling system help. But your HVAC is an incredibly complex system, so it can be difficult to determine what’s driving the trouble by yourself.

That’s why A2Z Air Inc made this guide to help you see what could be going on with your home comfort system. Below, you’ll find a few common explanations for why your home is feeling a little too warm. And while some of these are straightforward DIY tasks, you could still need to find a professional for HVAC repair.

And if need help, A2Z Air Inc is here for you. Here are five reasons why your air conditioner may not be cooling your house in Boynton Beach.

1. Your Device Settings May Be Wrong

Every home adjusts their thermostat a touch differently to match their particular requirements. Despite that, a lot of households make the error of setting their thermostat to “On” instead of “Auto.” With this setting, the fan in your system will continue to produce an air current even once you’ve attained your preferred temperature.

This can seem like your AC is releasing warmish air, when in reality it’s just employing the fan more often than needed. Trying changing this setting and determine if things are different.

2. Your Cooling System Needs a Good Cleaning

There are two primary places to investigate for dirt or dust buildup when your cooling system doesn’t appear to be performing correctly.

First, inspect your AC system’s filter. If you don’t change your filter often enough, buildup can make it more labor intensive for air to travel through and cool down your rooms. If your filter is clearly dirty or dusty, it’s more than likely time for a change. (And in general, you have to switch it about once every three months at a minimum.)

If your filter seems fine, head to your outside unit. Find out if there’s a couple of feet of clearing around it and clean up plants or debris stuck there. This piece of your AC lets off the heat from within your space. If the coils outside are congested, you won’t be feeling comfortable in your home.

We suggest setting professional air conditioner maintenance each year to keep your equipment operating properly and to keep your warranty valid.

3. Your Unit is Losing Refrigerant

Refrigerant is the material that chills the air in your space. It cycles between your internal and external system elements to soak up and discharge heat, to help your space keep cool. If there is a leak along the way, you won’t be feeling comfortable again until you book professional air conditioning repair.

Signals of a refrigerant leak include a drop in cooled air, climbing power expenses, frozen evaporator coils and odd hissing noises originating from your air conditioner.

If you suspect refrigerant might be leaking, call A2Z Air Inc for system repair as soon as possible. Refrigerant can also be damaging to your family’s health.

4. One or More Pieces Need to Be Replaced

Your air conditioner includes a few key elements. These include the blower, evaporator coils, compressor, fan, condenser coils and expansion valve. If any one of these is not working, your home comfort is hurt.

Our A2Z Air Inc pros are trained and knowledged in HVAC. They can help you locate and mend any issue.

5. Your Whole System Needs to Be Replaced

If your equipment is more than 10 years old, it may be time to look into new air conditioner installation. As your system gets up there in years, it simply won’t operate as well as it did in the beginning. And it might be making your house too warm.

If your AC is newer but still isn’t cutting it, it might be the wrong size for your space. AC units are not all the same size. An air conditioner that’s undersized absolutely can’t chill a space the way a correctly sized system can.
